DCT x KM Healthcare at the 45th Annual Scientific Conference & the 10th Surgical Expo
DCT x KM Healthcare at the 45th Annual Scientific Conference & the 10th Surgical ExpoOn November 8, 2025, at COEX in Seoul, the joint special exhibition by DCT and KM Healthcare drew significant attention from attendees at the 45th Annual Conference of the Korean Association of Operating Room Nurses and the 10th Surgical Expo. Under the overarching theme of “Operating Rooms of the Past and Future,” the two companies showcased a new style of medical exhibition by transforming their flagship medical devices into artistic visual representations using an AI prompt engine. These works were presented in the form of a gallery, offering a unique and innovative experience for visitors. From Past to Future: The Evolution of the Operating Room The exhibition hall was divided into two temporal dimensions. The first space recreated operating rooms from the 1950s and projected visions of the year 2050. It vividly captured the intense moments of medical professionals who fought to save lives amidst coarse metal surgical tools, heavy lighting, and limited infection control systems. In stark contrast, the adjoining future-themed space presented an entirely different landscape. AI-powered diagnostic solutions and futuristic surgical technologies symbolically illustrated how the boundaries of modern medicine are being pushed and how healthcare is evolving toward more patient-centered treatments.   Visualizing Products Through AI: Where Emotion Meets Technology At the heart of this exhibition was the AI Art Gallery, where DCT and KM Healthcare's key medical products were reinterpreted as works of art using an AI prompt engine. Visitors experienced more than a conventional product showcase—they were invited to engage emotionally with each product through AI-generated images that conveyed its function and deeper significance. By scanning QR codes, attendees could access detailed technical information about the actual medical devices behind the artworks, view the original prompt texts, and explore the process of AI generation, adding an interactive and informative layer to the emotional experience.AI Prompt Lecture Session: Unlocking New Possibilities in Medical InnovationDuring the event, DCT and KM Healthcare hosted a dedicated small-group lecture session under the theme "How to Apply AI in the Medical Field." The session featured an in-depth presentation on prompt engine technology and its potential applications in healthcare.

Young CEO Building a Better Medical Infrastructure From Import & Distribution to In-House Production: Introducing Differentiated Products to Korea’s Healthcare Industry    (Photo courtesy of Korea DCT Co., Ltd.)Young CEO Building a Better Medical Infrastructure In June, the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced plans to significantly strengthen infection control across university hospitals and smaller clinics, drawing new attention to the medical products industry. In particular, concerns have been raised regarding the lack of institutional systems surrounding the use and regulation of disposable medical devices, as well as insufficient preparation against secondary infections.Against this backdrop, Korea DCT Co., Ltd. is gaining recognition for its efforts to improve the quality of surgery by introducing innovative medical products that had not previously been available in the Korean market.     (Photo courtesy of Korea DCT Co., Ltd.)Introducing Innovative Medical DevicesKorea DCT is committed to delivering high-quality products to both patients and healthcare providers by sourcing items that have not yet entered the domestic market. CEO Sehyuk Han, who previously worked for a renowned German medical device company, leverages his global market insight to introduce promising devices to Korea. He explained, "At Korea DCT, we do not simply distribute what’s already on the market. We focus on sourcing superior products that enhance surgical quality. Through our own network, we identify items that are not only different but truly distinctive."CEO Han emphasized that the criteria for selecting products are centered on improving the level of care and safety for both patients and healthcare professionals. "It’s not about superficial uniqueness. The products must enhance patient safety and support the best surgical outcomes. We consider various factors such as technical differences and overall quality when deciding what to distribute," he said. One of Korea DCT’s flagship products is Surgi-Plus, a surgical drape that is used in operating rooms. Unlike standard drapes made from SMS composites, Surgi-Plus consists of a lightweight multi-layer material that provides top-tier performance among disposable surgical drapes. Its entire surface is rated as Level 4 impermeability—the highest possible level—according to AAMI guidelines. CEO Han explained, "Most disposable drapes in Korea allow patient blood to seep through during surgery, potentially causing secondary infections. Our Surgi-Plus product has a fully waterproof lower layer, ensuring complete protection even when blood contacts the drape."Surgi-Plus is composed of two layers: an impermeable polyethylene film base and a polypropylene top layer, which together create a barrier that blocks pathogens while effectively absorbing fluids.Han added, "In light of recurring viral outbreaks like MERS and Ebola, the need for safe surgical products is greater than ever. We recommend using Level 4 products for almost every surgery, and Surgi-Plus is the only product that has passed all such standards."Another standout item is Quill, a barbed suture with a unique structure. Unlike conventional sutures, Quill features tiny barbs along its length, allowing it to move smoothly in one direction but anchor securely when pulled in the opposite direction. While it’s commonly used for wound closure, Quill is especially favored in laparoscopic surgeries that require precise internal suturing through minimal incisions. CEO Han explained, "Quill is designed for use in obstetrics, urology, and general surgery—especially when manual suturing is difficult. It’s also frequently used in cosmetic surgery for lifting procedures."        (Photo courtesy of Korea DCT Co., Ltd.)A Growing Vision for a Specialized Medical Device CompanyKorea DCT is committed to becoming a leading medical device firm and continues to invest in future-oriented projects. Beyond distributing foreign products, the company operates its own research institute and is preparing for a transition into manufacturing.CEO Han remarked, "I believe the future of any company lies in technological development. Our move toward manufacturing is just the beginning of what we aim to achieve. Should relations with North Korea improve, we’re considering entering the Second Kaesong Industrial Complex. We’re also planning integration with our current production site in Pocheon."Han also places great emphasis on building a professional network. Instead of simply recruiting dealers, Korea DCT requires all sales partners to complete formal training on the products they handle."Surgical products must be introduced with expert knowledge. Since these items directly relate to human lives, our partners must be able to provide trusted information to medical professionals," he stated. Furthermore, Korea DCT is engaged in humanitarian efforts to improve poor medical conditions in Central Asia."Many healthcare providers and patients in Central Asia still suffer under underdeveloped systems. We are working with various organizations in Korea to support them," Han said.Recently, the company partnered with the Korean Association of Operating Room Nurses to transfer over 20 years of surgical knowledge and expertise to medical personnel in Central Asia."Improved environments lead to better medical care. We’ve come to realize the importance of providing quality service to patients as a result of this project. We will continue to foster relationships and contribute to the advancement of medical systems in the region," Han emphasized. As CEO Han puts it, "Selling medical products alone is mere business." Korea DCT’s vision lies beyond commerce—striving to fulfill its role and responsibility as a specialized company dealing with life-critical technologies.Source: Issue Maker (http://www.issuemaker.kr)

DCT Leads the Way in Improving Uzbek Medical Device Quality Standards
[Medical Newspaper/Daily Newspaper=Reporter Oh In-gyu] Since independence, Uzbekistan has been working steadily to improve the quality of medical services, and above all, due to COVID-19, the demand and need for vaccines, basic medicines, and medical facilities have increased significantly. To this end, President Mirziyoyev is implementing various policies related to the development of medical services and the supply of medicines. In particular, unlike pharmaceuticals that support domestic production through policies, in the medical device sector, in order to introduce excellent foreign equipment, the registration and testing procedures for imported medical devices were greatly simplified through a presidential decree in 2021. Since June of the same year, medical devices (including accessories) certified by the following foreign authorized institutions have been exempted from testing when applying for registration. This has made it easier for foreign medical devices to enter the Uzbek market. As it is judged that it is time to actively expand into the Central Asian market, which is experiencing a second revival after the collapse of the former Soviet Union, domestic medical device companies are continuing to take aggressive actions, and DC International (CEO Han Se-hyeok), which has a local subsidiary, is drawing attention for its active movements.Mr. Choi Jae- won, CEO of DC International Uzbekistan local corporation Do Challenge for Tomorrow FC LLC, met with the medical newspaper and said, “We are distributing medical devices that are contributing to the development of the Uzbek medical environment,” and “We are the general distributor and distributor of many medical devices, including Terrasop from Wonbiogen, a domestically listed company, most of its products, casts and underpads from Bieltech, the largest domestic cast exporter, and surgical sutures from Braun.”In April 2019, we participated in KOTRA's overseas branch establishment project and discovered the potential of Uzbekistan. We established a local corporation in July of the same year, and together with CEO Han Se-hyeok, who has over 20 years of experience in medical devices, we organized a sales group comprised of doctors and pharmacists to secure medical expertise.CEO Choi Jae-won has locally approved and registered 20 medical device products and developed distribution routes through collaboration with a majority of hospitals, thereby improving the quality standards of medical devices and making the DCT brand an advanced medical device company.DCT International's success is based on strong ties with all executives and employees. When asked about the secret to his numerous achievements, he said, “I would like to point out efficient K-SALES as my strength,” and “Our competitive edge lies in our ability to compete with excellent domestic products based on professional medical knowledge. We also have competitiveness that focuses on coexistence rather than profit-first based on DCT International’s motto of Good Product, Better Price, and Best Results.”CEO Choi, who feels proud and rewarded when he receives letters of thanks or contacts from patients saying that their products have helped them improve, emphasized that the company is based on DC International's 3P (People, Positive, Practice) philosophy, which states that when beautiful people work with passion and sincerity with a positive mind, the results are clear. He added, “I am proud to be working with all of the current executives and employees of DC International, which grew from a small Korean medical device company to a successful overseas corporation.”“Launching essential medical devices such as stents, and working to serve as a trade route for Korean medical devices”DCT International CEO Jae-won Choi (left photo) interacts with Uzbek medical staff.Meanwhile, Uzbekistan, the most populous country in Central Asia with 35 million people, has a low income level but abundant natural resources. It is also located at the center of the Eurasian continent, so it is considered to have great value as an economic cooperation partner with Korea. In particular, the network of 180,000 Koryo people is our valuable strategic asset, and as it has been selected as a key partner country for international development cooperation (ODA) projects, there is also a lot of demand for various infrastructure construction projects. In line with this trend, DC International plans to grow into one of the leading medical device companies in Uzbekistan by launching essential medical devices such as stents that can create synergy with its current products and serve as a trade route for many Korean medical devices. At the end of the interview, CEO Choi Jae-won said with a bright smile, “I want to create a company that contributes to establishing standards for the quality of medical devices in Uzbekistan, contribute to the development of DC International, the headquarters in Korea, and personally complete a master’s degree in business administration at a local university.”
